Jasper

Jasper calls itself the First Mountain City, and the landscape backs that up. Elevation change is significant, bedrock is shallow, and the local marble and fieldstone show up in the terrain as often as they do in the hardscaping.

That makes natural stone the obvious material here. Flagstone patios, stacked stone walls and boulder outcroppings look correct against mountain topography in a way that uniform manufactured block never quite does. We hand-fit flagstone rather than cutting it into regular shapes, which takes longer but produces a surface that belongs on a Pickens County property.

Shallow rock changes how we approach grading and excavation. Base depths sometimes have to be adjusted around ledge, drainage has to be routed rather than trenched straight through, and plant selection has to account for thinner soil. We plan around it instead of fighting it.

We serve downtown Jasper along with the Big Canoe and Bent Tree communities, Talking Rock and the Sharptop area. It is a half-hour run from Canton and well inside the area we cover regularly.
