Waleska
Lake Arrowhead and the surrounding rural acreage. Steep, wooded lots where erosion control and slope retention drive most of the work.
Waleska properties, especially around Lake Arrowhead, sit on some of the steepest ground we work. Lots were cut into hillsides to capture views, which produces beautiful homes and difficult yards. Usable flat space is scarce and everything downhill of the house is a candidate for erosion.
The fix is almost always structural. Tiered retaining walls create level terraces where there was only slope, turning unusable hillside into a patio, a lawn panel or a planting area. On more rustic lots, boulder walls do the same job while reading as native stone rather than manufactured block.
Erosion control matters as much as retention. Water coming off a roof and down a steep grade will cut a channel through a bed in one season. We shape swales, set drainage stone where runoff concentrates, and choose deep-rooted plantings that hold soil rather than sitting on top of it. Pine straw stays put on these slopes where mulch would wash to the bottom.
We cover Lake Arrowhead, the Reinhardt University area, Fincher Road and the Little River corridor. It is about twenty minutes from our Canton shop.
